TDK Ventures Invests in Glimpse’s $10M Series A to Revolutionize Battery Quality Management

TDK Corporation has announced that its subsidiary, TDK Ventures, Inc., is investing in battery quality management company Glimpse as part of its $10 million Series A funding round. This investment, made through TDK Ventures’ Fund EX1, will help Glimpse accelerate its scanning throughput and expand its services to new high-profile customers across both battery and non-battery sectors.

Glimpse is dedicated to advancing high-yield battery manufacturing while mitigating failures and product recalls—an objective that aligns seamlessly with the mission of TDK Ventures’ Fund EX1. The $150 million (USD) fund is focused on supporting electrification and decarbonization startups in Europe and North America, spanning Seed to Series B stages. As part of its broader commitment to driving cleantech and sustainable energy solutions, TDK Ventures has actively sought out companies with the right blend of expertise, technology, and business strategy to address the critical challenge of battery quality.

Glimpse, headquartered in Somerville, MA, was founded by a team with three decades of experience in battery technology. Their expertise has enabled them to develop a state-of-the-art quality management solution specifically designed for battery quality control. The company’s software suite seamlessly integrates into existing quality control workflows while unlocking previously inaccessible insights. Compatible with a wide range of industrial CT scanning hardware, the solution is well-suited for deployment in gigafactories, most of which already have multiple CT scanners in place.

Despite launching its X-ray-powered quality management platform less than a year ago, Glimpse has already secured several major customers, including Lucid Motors and NASA, solidifying its position as a key player in the industry.

Beyond enhancing the volume of data available to quality control teams, Glimpse is transforming how this data is shared and reviewed. Its secure, web-based application, Glimpse Portal™, enables teams to collaboratively analyze and share 3D CT scans from any standard company-issued laptop. To further showcase the power of accessible 3D CT scan data, the company has introduced a free demo featuring 1,000 scanned cells, offering users an in-depth look at its cutting-edge capabilities.
